Childhood is a tender age and also a perfect way to teach anything for life to the students. Like other things, kids learn a few things with the pace of time gradually and compassion is one of them, because kids need time to learn such things related to the emotions and to understand the emotions students need at a little grown-up age. Students these days can be taught with new teaching styles and learning with the help of new and progressive methods like online learning but they can’t be taught such attributes like compassion in the same ways. Tutors will always have to search for new ways to teach such sensitive things in the class. School managements are also focusing to induce such attributes in the child through specific teaching- learning and make the students most responsible citizens of the country. That is why they are also changing their way of working and are adapting new and innovative tools like school ERP and the school information management system in order to improve their performance, in the same way tutors need to induce some new tricks to teach attributes like compassion to the students. Compassion is the ability to understand the other’s emotions and feelings. This doesn’t happen all of a sudden, in fact it grows gradually in a child.
By the age of 6-7 kids start to understand the feelings and emotions of themselves and others also though partially but they do. As per school ERP which manages the whole school and its department, parents should not commit one mistake and that is to make the child realize that he or she doesn’t know anything so he/she should better follow only what they say. Kids of age 5-7 understand a lot of things and they do it better and in a positive direction if they are made to feel that they also exist and in the matter of compassion parents need to make their child believe that they are also able to feel and execute the behaviour of compassion. Very simple example of it is if the child is ready to share his toys with his/her crying buddy or cousin that means he/she has attained compassion and is not able to see his/her cousins or buddies crying so he/she decided to share his/her toys with him/her. In order to raise the child compassionately, the parents should also model the same behaviour they want their kid to adopt. So they should also show some compassionate acts in order to make them understand how to understand the feelings of others such as giving some alms to the beggar to make the kid understand that feelings other’s suffering and help them is compassion.
Compassion is like a school information management system which provides the essential information and data to manage school because just like it compassion also brings all the essential feelings to the heart to feel the pain of others and be compassionate towards them. Parents and tutors usually treat the kids like they don’t even exist sometimes, they scold them or they behave violently towards them or insult them according to their wish without even caring that how deep this behaviour will hurt the child. Kids also have a conscience of their own which feels, cries, laughs and remembers such behaviour and changes their lives forever in negative aspects. Therefore, tutors and parents need to speak to the kids with respect so their self-esteem should not be hurt anyhow. They should be made to feel that their respect is also very valuable. When they will be treated with honour then they will also do the same with others and will raise the name of parents and tutors. Also, parents need to make their kids understand the facial expressions of the other people because it doesn’t matter pain or anger, sadness or happiness, people never show these feelings on their faces and one has to understand these mental conditions by facial expressions so as to help them. Also, future students come to understand whether they are working in the right direction or not just from the facial expressions of the others.
Also parents and tutors need to mention in front of the kids how they treat other people and how they behave with them, in this way kids will get some real life example of compassion and will follow it.
